From the Small World Kitchen: Breakfast Menu News

By Jacqui | Thursday, May 10th, 2012 at 7:20 am

If you’ve visited Small World, you know that we’re about more than just specialty coffee.  Our kitchen produces small-batch, good-ingredient food, from breakfasts to pastries, desserts and lunch items.  Now, the Small World Kitchen has launched a new approach to our breakfast menu! In addition to our Classic Pile Driver and the Gringo Breakfast Burrito, we’ve added a ‘Build Your Own Egg Sandwich’ feature. We have been listening to the way you are ordering and decided it was time to strip the pile driver down to the basics and offer an egg sandwich that you can customize.

Our egg sandwich includes – an organic fried egg and garlic butter on an English muffin – then you can add as many or as few toppings as you like, so our kitchen crew can make you your sandwich exactly how you’d like it! This new approach will allow us to accommodate the varied appetites and budgets of our customers. (more…)

Katrina pulls a tray of Chocolate Scones from the oven.
As the fall settled in and the leaves around Princeton shifted from vibrant green to the fall oranges, our kitchen (located in the back of our 254 Nassau St. cafe) introduced a scone to fit the season.  The Pumpkin Scone was a huge hit this fall, and joined our homemade Pumpkin Spice as the kitchen’s latest delicious creations.  However, the leaves have long since dropped from the trees, and the cold weather has finally set in.  The Pumpkin Scone has been replaced by a classic.  The Chocolate Streusel Scone is back!

Cardamom Ginger Scones

By Jessica | Sunday, December 6th, 2009 at 5:01 pm

My business partner, Brant, came up with this recipe while playing around in the small world kitchen. Brant has an amazing palate and a great affinity for combining flavors. He was working with our former employee, John Ward, on the Small World Chai recipe (which John developed). Both cardamom and ginger are major players in the chai and Brant thought it might be interesting to add that combination to a scone, using crystallized ginger instead of fresh ginger. The results were amazing and the scone has been a top seller ever since. In fact, it was even featured on Martha Stewart Living. Like all cooking and baking, using the finest ingredients will yield the best results! (more…)
