Tough Chai Carrot Soup

By Jacqui | Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015 at 8:47 pm

One of our customers, Jess Stevens, sent us this adapted recipe for a Carrot Soup using our Tough Chai and the garam masala spiced cashews from the Whole Earth Center. If you decide to make this soup, order our Chai “straight up”, which means it will not be served with milk. We make our Chai almost daily in the Small World Kitchen on Nassau Street using freshly cracked whole spices, fresh organic ginger root, a small amount of honey, and a black tea from Rishi. Lots of love and care goes into this delicious recipe. We call it Tough Chai because of the spice factor;it is not a wimpy sweet Chai. A former worldling, John Ward, who now cooks for lucky people in Ithaca, NY, created our original Chai recipe.

Thanks Jess for sharing, the recipe sounds delicious and I think I am going to make some tonight! (more…)

Call for Artists: Submit Your Art to the Love Show!

By Jacqui | Monday, November 5th, 2012 at 9:10 am

We are excited about the fourth annual LOVE SHOW!
Artists are invited to submit a piece of original artwork for exhibition at Small World Coffee’s Witherspoon Street cafe during the month of February 2013. The show will center around the word ‘love’, and artists are encouraged to respond to that word – in broad or specific terms – and to create a piece of art that they feel somehow expresses the word or any of its myriad of connotations. Lace up your running shoes for a few great causes this fall!  We are proud to be sponsors of a few races in the Princeton area this season.  (Click on the links for the full details of each.)  Plan on running in these?  Share your race photos with us on Facebook or Twitter!

Proceeds from the Helene Cody 5K benefit the Helene Cody Foundation, which works to inspire youth to volunteer.  Helene was an avid runner who participated in fundraising races throughout the Princeton area.  Sing up to run for this great cause here.  The race is Saturday, 9/8.

What better way to enjoy a Saturday than to tour the Princeton campus? How about a run through campus? The Butler-Wilson 5K is Saturday 9/15 at 9am.

We will be serving our coffee at the Princeton Half Marathon, being held on 11/4.  Run through the Princeton University campus, past Einstein’s house, and along Carnegie Lake as a fundraiser for HiTops!  Sign up for this half marathon here.

Sickles Market to Tour Small World Roasters

By Jacqui | Monday, August 27th, 2012 at 10:00 am

Our friends and wholesale partners at Sickles Market will be paying a special visit to Small World Roasters this fall!  We are delighted to welcome tour director Kirsty and her group of visitors as they explore Princeton as part of an ‘Edible Princeton’ tour designed and lead by Sickles!  After visiting our Princeton neighbors at Cherry Grove Farm and stopping for lunch at Eno Terra, visitors will meet us at Small World Roasters for a tour of our roasting facility, lead by master roasters Jon and Brant.

They’ll get a behind the scenes look at the coffee roaster as Jon and Brant explain the nuances of coffee roasting, along with our coffee sourcing and roasting philosophy.  And, of course, their visit would not be complete without some coffee!

Located in Little Silver, NJ, Sickles Market is a family owned and operated specialty food store.  We’re thrilled to be on their shelves – amongst a wide selection of gourmet foods and fresh produce – and we look forward to welcoming them to Princeton before they head to their next tour stop – Sicily!  Visit their website for more information about their amazing market & community programs.
