Cap-Off Practice Session

In one month, our baristas will gather in the empty Wither spoon Street cafe – but not for our monthly staff meeting.  Instead of discussing upcoming events, brushing up on procedures or celebrating employees’ anniversaries, there will be hooting and hollering, and maybe some gentle trash-talking.  It’s not your typical all-crew meeting, it’s our annual Cap Off!

Each spring we test our baristas’ mettle and hold a bracket-style competition to see who can make the best cappuccino, and we mean business.  Every trained coffee maker is given the chance to compete (typically around 30 competitors!) and the winner earns a cash prize, a trophy, and some serious bragging rights.  Since this year’s competition will be held next month, at last night’s all-crew meeting we offered our baristas the chance to hone their skills with dedicated supervision from our coffee training gurus, Tuc and Tim.  Last year’s winner was Matt Wong.  Will he be victorious again this year, or will his reign be toppled by another barista’s cappuccino?  We’ll find out in April!
