Michaela McClain

Michaela McClain
Michaela McClain, winner of the 2013 "Best Indie Act" at the Jersey Acoustic Music Awards, is a critically-acclaimed, folk-soul singer/songwriter with a "warm groove" and "rich mezzo-soprano voice." Growing up in a musical family, and the youngest of six singing sisters, Michaela performed widely in choirs, concerts, and special events throughout her young life and, in 2011, began writing and performing her own music, touring extensively throughout New York and New Jersey with drummer Meredith Foreman, guitarist Raul Abbad, and bassist Brad Schwartzseid. Since the formation of The Michaela McClain Band, Michaela has performed over two hundred live concerts, with her band and in intimate solo engagements.

A trained musician from Montclair State University's prestigious John J. Cali School of Music, Michaela has released three EPs (Bittersweet Melodies, Michaela McClain: The Dallas Sessions, Michaela McClain: The Manhattan Sessions), several music videos ("Cold Hearts," "No More Blues," etc.) and a full-length CD/DVD, Michaela McClain: Live at Blue Light Sessions. Her music is featured on Sirius FM, in well-known listening rooms and at various music festivals. Michaela is a member of The New York Songwriters Circle at NYC's The Bitter End, the oldest, most-established showcase in the country for great original music. As of the Fall 16’, she has courageously retired from her 8 years as a full time music teacher to focus on her music full time. She continues to teach private voice and piano lessons out of her own studio in Montclair, NJ as she has for the last 10 years.

Some notable quotes: Jersey Audible says, “When you listen to her catalog of music, you'll pick up on nuances of her favorite artists while she weaves her words around your ears. You can see in her eyes that the music she's creating is a piece of her soul.”

“McClain blends faucets of soul, folk and jazz in a wonderfully intoxicating way” says Ed Magdziak of You Don’t Know Jersey.
